Comparing the Even Bigger 24" Driver

December 28, 2015

So the regular 24" driver I use is on the left and now there is an even beefier driver on the right.  I thought the original 24" driver was big and it is at 90 lbs.  But the beefier driver with larger voice coil and magnet/motor is absolutely a beast at 145 lbs.  I will soon be testing the beefier driver to see how it might fit into the product line.

Mariana 24SR Subwoofer Christmas Delivery
Mariana 24SR Subwoofer Christmas Delivery

December 28, 2015

Made a delivery of a pair of Mariana 24SR subs in black maple right before Christmas. The matching in-wall speakers had a very effective and sweet sounding surround effect, which should get even better with the soon to be added Atmos ceiling speakers. The customer's goal for these subs was accurate, deep bass and measurements show the Mariana 24SR subs don't start dropping until 7 Hz in-room, which is common for all Mariana 24s I've tested in various rooms. Mission accomplished!

DSS Mariana 24SR Subs Bring the Theater Experience to the Cul De Sac
DSS Mariana 24SR Subs Bring the Theater Experience to the Cul De Sac

November 15, 2015

The neighborhood decided to have movie night last night and the last time they had it they rented a pair of speakers. I put in that I'd bring the stereo system last night. Did an inventory of the cost between speakers, subs, electronics, and cables and realized I brought over $15000 of equipment down (MSRP). The projector and screen were provided by another resident.

We watched Jurassic World and while some complained it might have been too loud, most enjoyed it. I asked the kids if it was too loud and in unison they said no. :)  We didn't have much of a turn out as it started in the low 50s and dropped low 40s by the end of the movie. The bass was strong in my house about 3 houses up from the cul-de-sac and a neighbor 5 houses up said it was clear in his house too. Fun time but a lot of work to move and setup all of the equipment.
